“Chaos seems to follow Peter Obi everywhere,” says Kenneth Okonkwo

Let us rescue Nigeria - Kenneth Okonkwo begs Nigerians to join ADC

During a recent appearance on the Naija Symfoni podcast, actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo shared strong opinions regarding Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, focusing on his alleged impact on the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Okonkwo argued that Obi played a significant role in creating internal strife within the party, claiming his involvement brought a sense of “toxicity” to the ADC. He stated, “Only one person was causing toxicity in the ADC, and that person is Peter Obi. He was the one going around asking others to step aside for him.”

He continued to assert that Obi’s political style fosters division, noting, “Chaos follows him by nature. As soon as he joined the party, he introduced this toxic mindset of ‘Obi or nothing,’ which contributed to the discontent in the ADC.”

Furthermore, Okonkwo suggested that Obi left the ADC because he was afraid of the party’s internal democratic processes.

He believes that Obi hasn’t consistently engaged in competitive party primaries during his political journey.

He explained, “The reason Obi left the ADC is that he’s someone who fears fair and free primary elections. He hasn’t run for any political office throughout his entire career.”

He also critiqued Obi’s political approach, saying, “He has constructed his political career on shaky ground, not on the principles of democracy. He seems to be consumed by an entitlement mentality regarding democracy, which makes him anxious about the idea of internal democracy whenever he joins a new party.”
