Activist and presidential candidate for the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has urged the Federal Government to implement similar stringent actions against politicians and public figures accused of embezzling public funds, akin to those taken against kidnappers.
In remarks posted on his X account on Tuesday, Sowore emphasized that corruption is a serious crime that deprives Nigerians of essential services and opportunities.

He argued that if properties connected to criminal activities are subject to demolition, the same principle should apply to those who obtain mansions and other possessions through misappropriated public funds.
He asserted that the demolition policy should not be confined to the hideouts of kidnappers, as the mismanagement of public resources effectively “kidnaps” vital sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, jobs, and the future of countless citizens.

Sowore further remarked that public officials and wealthy individuals who exploit corrupt practices to build extravagant homes and accumulate wealth should also have their properties demolished.
His statements followed the demolition of a structure in Ibadan’s Lako Community by the Oyo State Government, reportedly used by kidnappers involved in the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons.
This building was destroyed within 48 hours of the victims’ rescue, as Oyo State officials declared their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against criminal activities.
