Nigerian Army apprehends 46 illegal immigrants from Togo, Burkina Faso, others in Ogun 

The Nigerian Army, in partnership with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has apprehended 46 individuals suspected of being illegal immigrants in Ogun State as part of intelligence-driven operations.

According to Idereghi Samuel Akari, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade, the operation commenced on June 11, 2026, targeting various locations, including Ijebu Imushin and Ijebu Ilese, as part of a comprehensive security sweep.

Initial reports suggest that the suspects had resided in the state for approximately six months without proper immigration documentation.

During questioning, they described themselves as merchants and workers linked to QNet, an online marketing company dealing in various goods.

Among those detained are 18 individuals from Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, 4 from Togo, and 1 from Senegal, comprising 36 men and 10 women.

The statement also noted that the suspects have been handed over to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and necessary legal measures.
