Abducted Oyo students and teachers were released unconditionally – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army announced that the 44 students and teachers abducted in Oyo State on May 15 were released unconditionally by the kidnappers on Friday, July 10.

In their statement, the Army explained that the rescue operation was spearheaded by Major General CR Nnebeife, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army in Ibadan, along with special teams from the Office of the National Security Adviser, including the National Counter Terrorism Center, Defence Headquarters, and various branches of the military and law enforcement agencies.

The Army’s operations, which lasted over a month, aimed to identify and dismantle the terrorist networks responsible for the kidnapping, as well as their logistics and informants, concentrating efforts in the Old Oyo National Park Forest.

Numerous arrests were made across Oyo State and in other regions, disrupting the terrorist group and applying significant pressure that ultimately resulted in the unconditional release of the victims.
