However, Umahi, speaking while inspecting federal road projects in Ebonyi State on July 10, dismissed Obi’s fears as frustration, asserting that no one wishes harm upon him.
“Nobody wants Obi dead. Itβs not reasonable. We all want him alive to contest this election and witness another defeat,” he remarked.

Umahi explained that Obiβs worries stem from his belief that the South-East remains his political base after the 2023 election, which he characterized as an “accident of history.”
The former governor also pointed out that President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure initiatives and appointments in the region have shifted its political dynamics.
“We have introduced visible development here, and our people now agree that we are better off with President Tinubu to continue his beneficial projects rather than engaging in superficial politics,” he said.
