Senate asks Makinde to withdraw call for UN probe of Ogbomoso school abduction

The Nigerian Senate has criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for requesting an investigation by the United Nations into the kidnapping of students and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area.

During a session on Tuesday, July 14, the Senate urged the governor to refrain from downplaying this serious and traumatic issue.

In a state broadcast on July 13, Gov. Makinde had appealed to the UN and other international human rights organizations to look into the details of the abduction.
