Lagos declares Thursday work-free day for 2026 Isese Day celebration

Lagos State Government has declared Thursday, 20 August 2026, a work-free day for all public servants in the state to commemorate Isese Day.

In a circular (Ref. No: CIR/HOS/’26/057) dated 18 August 2026 and issued by the Office of the Head of Service, the government announced that this year’s Isese Day celebration will be held on Thursday, 20 August 2026.

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu made the declaration in reaffirmation of the state’s commitment to promoting indigenous culture, tradition, and the preservation of heritage, while also providing necessary support for traditional institutions across Lagos.

The circular, signed by Bode Agoro, Head of Service, directed that official work will resume on Friday, 21 August 2026.
