In a filing from August 20, 2026, to the US District Court for the District of Columbia, the FBI expressed its intention to provide a confidential declaration that supports its use of exemptions from the Freedom of Information Act concerning sensitive law-enforcement information.
The records, requested by transparency advocate Aaron Greenspan, include Tinubu’s complete FBI file and interview records from a case dating back to 1992-1993.
The FBI stated that publicly disclosing some of its rationale for withholding these records could expose law enforcement techniques or pose risks to individuals’ safety.
