Ibeju-Lekki chairman calls for stronger media focus on grassroots Governance

Following a historic win in Saturday’s Lagos local government elections, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Ibeju-Lekki for what he described as a “powerful affirmation of trust and commitment to continuity.”

In an official message titled “Ibeju-Lekki, Thank You for Re-electing Us,” Hon. Olowa thanked voters for what he called “an overwhelming renewal” of his four-year mandate, after polling a record-breaking 59,342 votes to secure a second term in office.

The re-elected council boss described the election outcome as a momentous endorsement of his administration’s achievements over the last four years and a call to deliver more dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

“Your resounding endorsement at the polls yesterday was not just a renewal of our mandate but also a powerful affirmation of your faith in our leadership,” he stated.

Hon. Olowa pledged to honour the sacred responsibility entrusted to him and his Vice Chairman with “renewed dedication, energy, and purpose.”

Gratitude to Sanwo-Olu, APC Leadership

In his post-election remarks, Hon. Olowa offered special thanks to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, crediting their leadership for inspiring his administration’s local success.

He also acknowledged the strong support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership at all levels, from the state to the grassroots, led by Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos APC State Chairman.

“Your relentless commitment ensured our success at the polls. We are immensely grateful.”

The chairman saluted party leaders, ward executives, campaign volunteers, donors, and community stakeholderswho contributed to the electoral victory.

He emphasised that the outcome was a result of collective unity and people-driven mobilisation, which transformed the APC into “an unstoppable force in Ibeju-Lekki.”

“To the esteemed leaders and respectable members of our party, I salute your unity, diligence, and tireless collaboration throughout the campaign and on election day.”

Record-Breaking support from Voters

Hon. Olowa gave special recognition to the electorates of Ibeju-Lekki, whose massive turnout at the polls led to what is now being described as one of the highest vote margins in Lagos LG election history.

“You, the resilient electorates of Ibeju-Lekki, are the true heroes of this victory,” he declared.

“I do not take your trust for granted. I am deeply moved by your belief in our shared vision.”

Closing his statement on a spiritual note, Hon. Olowa returned all glory to Almighty Allah (SWT), for what he described as “divine favour, mercy, and protection” throughout the election process.

“As we look ahead to the next four years, I am filled with optimism and vigour. Together, we shall build on our achievements, foster inclusive growth, and elevate Ibeju-Lekki to new levels of progress, prosperity and development.”
