Ghana’s President John Mahama has reassured Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu that there is no reason to worry about a viral video that incited protests against Nigerians living in Ghana.
This reassurance came during a meeting with a Nigerian delegation led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, who was on a two-day visit to Ghana. The Minister mentioned that Mahama guaranteed the safety of Nigerians, their assets, and businesses in Ghana.

Ojukwu emphasized that Mahama firmly stated that xenophobia has no place in Ghana and reiterated the country’s adherence to ECOWAS protocols regarding the free movement of people and goods.
Additionally, she indicated that their visit aimed to calm tensions in Ghana following the video incident, and she updated Mahama about her discussions with the Nigerian community, encouraging them to respect Ghana’s laws.
The visit was also intended to promote the establishment of a permanent Nigeria-Ghana Joint Commission to address regional issues like youth unrest, migration, and trafficking.
