Speaking to supporters upon his return to Sokoto, Tambuwal, a prominent member of the opposition coalition, said he has no interest in seeking political “forgiveness of sins.”

“I do not want my sins to be forgiven, so I can’t join the APC,” he said. “I cannot be intimidated. I cannot be blackmailed. No one can tarnish my records.”

The former governor described Nigeria’s political divide as being between “those with Bola Tinubu and his government” and “those with the people of Nigeria,” stating that he firmly stands with the latter.

His remarks come amid reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently detained him in Abuja over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion.
