APC pledges to halt impeachment efforts against Fubara and Deputy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has staunchly opposed the impeachment proceedings launched by the State House of Assembly against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, promising to thwart any attempts to disrupt the state government.

On Thursday, the Rivers State House of Assembly began impeachment actions against Governor Fubara and his deputy over allegations of misconduct. Legislative sources indicate that a formal impeachment notice is likely to be issued within the next week.

In response, the Rivers APC promptly condemned the efforts, labeling them as politically motivated and unacceptable. In a statement from the party’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, the APC denounced the entire impeachment process.

“Our stance today is a firm rejection of the impeachment actions against our governor and his deputy,” the statement declared.

The party cautioned that allowing internal political conflicts to jeopardize the stability of the state would be a grave mistake, emphasizing that past issues should not invade the APC-led administration.

β€œIt would be utterly inappropriate for our party to remain silent while remnants of disputes from the PDP resurface within our esteemed organization,” Nwauju asserted.

Additionally, the Rivers APC assured citizens that it would take all necessary measures to safeguard the government from political turmoil.

β€œWe will do everything in our power to ensure that the APC government in Rivers State remains stable,” the statement concluded.

As tensions escalate within the Rivers State House of Assembly, political analysts believe the next few days will be crucial in determining the fate of the impeachment proceedings amid increasing resistance.
