The National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), Lagos State Chapter, has reached 400 female secondary school students across five schools through the first phase of its Her Dignity, Her Pride project, aimed at promoting girls’ education, self-worth and efforts to end child marriage.
The initiative, organised by the Office of the Vice Chairperson of NFSAN Lagos, Adelaja Azanat Abosede, was part of activities marking the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child and focused on the advocacy theme, “End Child Marriage.”
The outreach engaged students in conversations about personal development, self-confidence, dignity, and the importance of education in shaping their future.
Five Lagos Schools Benefit From Girl-Child Initiative
The first phase of the project covered five schools across Lagos State.
They include Isale Eko Junior and Senior Grammar School and King Ado Junior and Senior High School, both on Lagos Island; Army Children Junior High School in Epe; Orimedu Community Junior and Senior High School; and Magbon Alade Junior and Senior Grammar School.
During the visits, students were encouraged to recognise their abilities, believe in themselves, speak up when necessary, and embrace positive values that would support their personal growth and future ambitions.
The engagements also emphasised the importance of education and creating an environment where girls can develop their potential without discrimination or threats to their dignity.
NFSAN Distributes Educational Materials With Affirmation Messages
As part of the outreach, the organisers distributed customised exercise books featuring words of affirmation on the back covers, alongside pens and socks.
The affirmations were designed to remind the students that every girl is valuable, capable and deserving of respect, while encouraging them to pursue their dreams with confidence.
The initiative also sought to reinforce positive self-image among the students and encourage them to understand the importance of their voices, choices and aspirations.

The initiative also draws attention to the need to address child marriage and promote access to education, helping girls build the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue their aspirations.
NFSAN Lagos Plans to Extend Project to More Schools
Following the completion of the first phase, the Office of the Vice Chairperson has expressed its intention to extend the initiative to additional schools and communities across Lagos State.
The next phase is expected to cover Ibeju Senior/Junior High School, Ilege Primary School and Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo.
The planned expansion is expected to widen the project’s reach and provide more young girls with opportunities to participate in activities promoting education, self-worth and personal development.
Campaign Calls for an End to Child Marriage
The Her Dignity, Her Pride project highlights the importance of investing in girls’ confidence, education and future, while raising awareness about the need to end child marriage.
