Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has passed away.
This was confirmed in an official statement released on Saturday by Garba Shehu, the longtime spokesperson to the late president.

According to the statement, President Buhari died this afternoon at a private clinic in London, where he had been receiving medical attention. The cause of death was not disclosed.
“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN. The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London,” the statement read.
“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
