General Nafiu encourages Corps members to embrace Nigeria’s opportunities

Corps Members have been urged to prioritize Nigeria in their endeavors and to have faith in the country’s potential for them. Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, shared this message while addressing the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

He referred to Lagos as a land of opportunity and encouraged the Corps Members to work diligently and enhance their skills. They were also motivated to serve their country with commitment and selflessness, aiming to make a significant impact in their respective primary assignments throughout the state.

General Nafiu emphasized the importance of using the Orientation Course as an opportunity to connect with one another and to learn about the country’s diverse cultures.

He encouraged them, as future leaders, to network and integrate since they have answered the call for National Service. Additionally, the Director General advised the Corps Members to make the most of the various lectures during the Camp to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming service year.

“Respect the local culture, integrate well, and you will come to appreciate the essence of Lagos’ culture,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, reported to the Director General that the Corps Members have displayed readiness, a spirit of nationalism, and a commitment to understanding the Orientation Exercise since it began.

She noted that they have embraced teamwork in their activities.

Salmwang reported that the Lagos Camp registered a total of 1,805 males and 1,213 females, while Osun had 436 males and 427 females. She also mentioned that the state had deployed Corps Members to Ondo, Ogun, and Ekiti States, bringing the total registered Corps Members in Lagos, including those deployed, to 6,098.
