Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially announced his move to the Accord Party, setting the stage for his 2026 re-election bid on a new political platform.
The governor confirmed the switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday during a gathering of national and state party leaders at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo.

đź”— Join Our ChannelAccording to a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke revealed that he had formally joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025. This decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders and community leaders throughout the state.
Adeleke explained that the move was motivated by the Accord Party’s ideological alignment with his administration’s focus on social welfare. “We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare,” he stated.

Addressing the party leadership, the governor stressed the importance of unity as the state prepares for the upcoming governorship race. “We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he remarked, calling for cohesion and collective effort to secure victory.
He emphasized the need for inclusive leadership that respects the interests of all factions within the party. Reflecting on his brief time with his new party, Adeleke noted his encouragement by its philosophy.
“The focus on people’s welfare should always be at the heart of public leadership,” he said. “The primary essence of government is the welfare and well-being of the people.”
Governor Adeleke presented the Accord Party as the new political vehicle for the state, urging residents from all senatorial districts—Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central—to support the platform.
“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede and beyond, this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year,” he declared.
He concluded his announcement with a formal declaration: “In accordance with the will of our stakeholders and in deep respect for the wishes of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party.”
