The success came some months after Manager Micheal Carrick took charge of the team— securing them third place in the premier league table, a validation to their Champions League’s spot.

Inspired by the red Icon, Kobbi Maino who found the back of net in the 77 minutes of the game to restore United’s lead and delivered the man-of-the-match, leaving Arne Slot’s side effortless.

Sunday’s victory was an evidence pointing to the club’s revival since Carrick took charged. United last played in Champions League was in December, 2023 after a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munchen that saw them finished at the bottom of group A.

Before Manager Micheal Carrick

At the beginning of the campaigns Manchester United was pessimistic under former Manager Ruben Amoren who believed the squad was not ripe enough to complete for domestic trophies even after a huge spent by the club.

By the midst of the season United was already overshadowed with cracks, facing several humiliations in all competitions, early knockout of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively.

These setbacks exposed inability of Amoren to restore the team’s glory as they continued struggling at the seventh position with just 32 points in twenty-one premier league games played before Carrick’s appointment, despite completing in a single competition.

For the United’s board, the regressive was unbearable fixing the question of whom to restore their former glory— a reason for appointing Micheal Carrick.
