Tinubu will lose social media election, Kaduna governor says

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani stated that President Bola Tinubu would likely lose the 2027 presidential election if it were decided on social media, emphasizing that true electoral strength comes from polling units.

During a meeting with a media mobilization team in Kaduna, he pointed out that social media platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram do not accurately reflect real voter behavior.

“If elections were held on social media, Tinubu would lose,” he explained. “However, if votes are cast at polling units, he could secure up to 70%.”

Sani asserted that while online discourse can be impactful, it seldom directly affects election results.

These comments come as political activity ramps up ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly with strong online support for Peter Obi following the 2023 election.

In that election, Obi from the Labour Party achieved significant online visibility, especially among younger urban voters, yet Tinubu of the APC won the presidency with support from a wider range of states.

The governor also praised Tinubu’s performance, claiming the president has provided more substantial backing to state governments.
