President Bola Tinubu has accepted the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination for the 2027 general election after winning the party’s primary.

Reflecting on the difficulties of governance and ongoing reforms following his victory, he stated, “I understand what it takes to rebuild this nation we found in disarray. If you’ve lost sleep, I’ve experienced that as well. If you’ve lost weight, I’ve lost some too.”

He reassured Nigerians of his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities, despite the challenges involved. “I always remember one thing: I asked for this job in 2022, and with your support, I received it. Therefore, I must carry it out,” he emphasized.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to APC members for their renewed trust, saying, “I humbly and gratefully accept the nomination from our esteemed party, the APC, to run again as your presidential candidate in the 2027 election.”

Reflecting on the primary election process, he mentioned that he tracked events nationwide after voting in Lagos and commended the turnout and peaceful atmosphere. “After voting, I was glued to my TV. I saw the large crowds in Kano and Kaduna, and the city boy walking through Calabar,” he noted.

He mentioned that the peaceful conduct of the exercise was promising for Nigeria’s democracy, adding, “It felt good to see there was no bloodshed or discord. This is genuine politics. This is the direction we want Nigeria to move in, with a unified focus.”
