I spend ₦40,000 daily on electricity — Pete Edochie critiques Nigeria’s power crisis

Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has voiced his discontent regarding the escalating electricity costs and supply issues in Nigeria, sharing the daily expenses he incurs to maintain power in his home.

In an interview with Africa Independent Television (AIT), the esteemed actor noted that the financial burden of keeping his household powered has become significant.

He stated, “I spend ten thousand naira on electricity each day. Additionally, I spend another thirty thousand—twenty thousand on diesel and ten thousand on fuel. Altogether, I pay forty thousand naira for electricity every day, which greatly troubles me.”

Edochie pointed out that this predicament mirrors the broader struggles faced by everyday Nigerians dealing with the country’s electricity woes.

He also criticized politicians, alleging that many pursue political positions for personal gain rather than to serve the populace. He remarked, “No one seems to care about the plight of the common man.”
