Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has announced the dismissal of four officers connected to the killing of seven traders in the Owode-Onirin region of Lagos.

During a press briefing at the Ikeja Police Officers’ Mess, CP Jimoh stated that investigations into the serious incident are still underway but confirmed that the officers have been removed from the Nigeria Police Force.

He explained that these officers were allegedly brought from Nasarawa State by the main suspect, known as “Ariori,” and were implicated in the unlawful deaths of the traders.

Jimoh reassured the victims’ families and the public that justice would be pursued, emphasizing that ballistic and autopsy reports are aiding the prosecution efforts.

“This issue has not been ignored, and we want the public and the families of the victims to understand that we will not be deterred from achieving justice,” the police commissioner asserted.

“We will thoroughly investigate and will not be intimidated. All suspects will face prosecution, and the courts will be available for every case.”

The CP mentioned that nearly 98 percent of the investigation has been finalized, highlighting the police’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safety throughout the state.

He reiterated the police’s dedication to their constitutional role in upholding law and order, insisting that no person or group will be permitted to hinder justice.

The incident in Owode-Onirin took place last August, resulting from a violent confrontation between suspected land grabbers and traders that resulted in the deaths of seven traders.

CP Jimoh encouraged residents and traders in Lagos to stay alert while assuring them that the police are devoted to safeguarding lives and property and delivering jus tice to the victims.
