According to a statement posted on FAAN’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the veteran musician attempted to board a ValueJet flight with an unsealed flask containing a liquid substance. Despite multiple warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel, K1 allegedly insisted on carrying the container onto the aircraft. The liquid was later confirmed to be alcohol.
The situation escalated when the substance was reportedly spilled on one of the AVSEC officers during the confrontation. Rather than comply with the directive to step aside for further checks, K1 proceeded toward the front of the aircraft while the cabin door was already closed. Security personnel eventually intervened and escorted the musician off the flight.

In a related move, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended two ValueJet pilots involved in the incident.
According to NCAA, the pilots allowed the aircraft to begin taxiing while ground personnel were still in close proximity to the plane and without receiving proper clearance to depart. The regulatory body described this as a serious safety breach.
The ValueJet flight in question was originally scheduled to depart from Abuja to Lagos. While the airline is yet to release an official statement, multiple reports confirm that the aircraft was eventually delayed following the disruption.
