The announcement, which was made public on Saturday evening, signals a significant development in Nigeria’s political scene ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The formal defection ceremony is slated to be held at Gidan Kwankwasiyya on Miller Road, Bompai, in Kano State, with the event kicking off at 12:00 PM.
This move follows Kwankwaso’s presidential bid in the 2023 elections under the banner of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP). He secured fourth place in the polls, garnering 1,496,687 votes, behind President Bola Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and Peter Obi of the LP.
