Lagos Cultural Mission secures international support from China and India

To enhance the Lagos Cultural Mission and foster worldwide cooperation, Mr. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, recently participated in a partnership meeting at the Chinese Consulate General and the Indian Embassy in Lagos.

During his discussions with China’s Consul General in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, and India’s Consul General, Chandramouli Kern, Aregbe highlighted that the Lagos Cultural Mission signifies “an active legacy aimed at safeguarding what is vital, preserving our identity, and showcasing our unique dignity.”

He revealed that the conversations focused on utilizing cultural exchange as a means for mutual development. “Given the strong historical bonds between Nigeria and India, we concurred that merging our cultural strengths can yield significant benefits for both countries,” he stated.

Consul General Yan Yuqing expressed his support for the Lagos Cultural Mission’s vision, promising the backing of the Chinese community to further its goals.

In the same vein, the discussion with India’s Consul General, Chandramouli Kern, underscored the necessity of enhancing cultural collaboration.

Aregbe pointed out that both sides acknowledged the importance of highlighting shared values through cultural promotion, which is crucial for advancing tourism and economic development.

“We are united in our efforts to showcase our cultural values, from our beautiful landscapes to our dynamic lifestyle, with the aim of enhancing the tourism industry. After all, everyone loves Lagos, and this initiative is set to boost its attractiveness,” Aregbe asserted.
