The strategic meeting, held in response to recent security developments within the South-West region and other parts of the country, brought together heads of security agencies and key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and enhance proactive security measures within Lekki LCDA.
Among those in attendance were representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), marine security operatives, local vigilante groups, hunters, the Olokun security outfit, and other community stakeholders.

Discussions centred on strengthening intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation to combat criminal activities, including kidnapping, banditry, cultism, illicit drug operations, illegal migration, and the proliferation of arms and ammunition.
Speaking during the meeting, Engr. Kasali stressed the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security within the local council.

“We must make it impossible for criminals to find a safe haven anywhere within Lekki LCDA. Security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, business owners, and residents all have important roles to play in safeguarding our communities,” he said.
The Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a secure environment for residents, investors, and visitors, noting that sustainable development can only thrive where peace and security are guaranteed.
Stakeholders at the meeting also emphasised the need for increased public awareness, effective intelligence gathering, and stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies. Participants highlighted the importance of proper documentation and registration processes within communities to improve monitoring and accountability.

Special attention was given to hotel operators and hospitality businesses, with stakeholders urging greater vigilance regarding the identities and activities of guests to prevent criminal elements from exploiting such facilities.
The meeting further recommended the removal of criminal hideouts and illegal shanties where necessary, while also calling for improved sanitation and accessibility around coastal waterways and other vulnerable locations to enhance surveillance and security operations.
