Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator for Kogi Central, has clarified that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and fellow lawmakers for a project commissioning in Kogi was strictly a matter of legislative procedure, not a personal gesture.
On Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan extended the invitation to Akpabio and other lawmakers to join the commissioning ceremony in her state, just two months after her suspension ended.

Celebrating her second anniversary in office this week, she explained that she formally submitted her request to the Senate through the presiding officer to ensure it was announced properly in accordance with parliamentary traditions.
“In keeping with our usual practices for such announcements, I sent a letter to the Senate for the presiding officer to present to the Senate President,” she stated.
“I made this invitation public so it wouldn’t appear that I was marking the occasion alone. I believe in progress, even as I deal with an ongoing court case.”
