The leadership of the Nawai-ru-deen Society has urged Muslims in Lagos to move past political apathy and actively participate in the upcoming elections by voting for candidates who demonstrate credibility, peace, and transparency.
This appeal was made during a Jumat Service that involved a collaborative engagement with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Lagos Directorate of Muslim Affairs, chaired by Mr. Tayo Ayinde Akinmade, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State, at the Nawai-ru-deen Central Mosque in Lagos Island.

The delegation, led by the Director of Muslim Affairs, Alh. Waheed Tella, which included key stakeholders such as Hajia Idayat Aloba (Esq) and Alhaji Tajudeen Uzamot, emphasized the importance of civic responsibility. Chief Imam Alhaji Abdul Majeed Ayinla urged Muslims to actively engage in the electoral process and support the right candidates, while also preparing for the economic implications of national development.
Alh. Waheed Tella praised the accomplishments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, mentioning various initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He called on all eligible voters to reject apathy and ensure that elections are conducted peacefully and fairly.
Tella also voiced support for President Tinubu’s second term and for Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat’s re-election as Governor of Lagos State, asserting that active democratic participation is essential for sustainable leadership.

He expressed gratitude to the Nawai-ru-deen Society for facilitating the event and applauded the community’s dedication to the initiative.
Additionally, Alhaja Rasheedat Danmole, the former Chairperson of the Women’s Wing of the Nawai-ru-deen Society, highlighted the need for enhanced voter education among Muslim women, acknowledging their vital role in informing and preparing each other for the elections.
The event concluded with a unified call for elections to be peaceful, credible, and transparent, as participants committed to fostering civic responsibility and encouraging higher voter participation within the Muslim community in Lagos.
