Despite their commanding lead, the Super Falcons know the job is not yet finished. The Amazons created several scoring opportunities in the first encounter but were denied by the woodwork and the exceptional goalkeeping of Chiamaka Nnadozie. They will be determined to convert their chances in the return fixture.
Madugu blows hot ahead of second leg
Head coach Justin Madugu emphasised that his team is not taking the match lightly.
“We are looking forward to a tough game from the Beninoise, but we will be ready for that by putting up a good performance. The ultimate goal is qualification to the 2026 Women’s AFCON, where we hope to retain our title and further qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2027,” he stated.

“The Amazons, with about 10 professional players from Germany, Morocco, France, and Equatorial Guinea, gave a good account of themselves in the first leg. This underscores the fact that underrating any team in Africa now could be at your own peril. We are not taking anything for granted,” Madugu added.
Nigeria vs Benin Team News
Coach Madugu is expected to field a similar lineup to the one that triumphed in the first leg.
The squad remains unchanged, with Nnadozie likely starting in goal behind a defensive line of Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin, and Ashley Plumptre.
In midfield, captain Rasheedat Ajibade is set to be joined by Deborah Abiodun and Taiwo Afolabi.
The attacking trio of Ihezuo, Okoronkwo, and Folashade Ijamilusi will likely lead the line once again.
Madugu will have strong options on the bench, including stars like Asisat Oshoala and Christy Ucheibe, ready to make an impact if needed.
