No cases of Ebola in Nigeria — NCDC assures, urges for public calm

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has stated that there are currently no reported cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria. This announcement comes in response to growing concerns over suspected cases.

Dr. Jide Idris, the Director-General of the NCDC, reported that two individuals previously identified as suspected cases have tested negative for the virus. He urged the public to stay calm and refrain from sharing unverified information, emphasizing the importance of relying on updates from reputable health organizations.

Health officials at the Abuja facility, where the latest suspected case was isolated, confirmed that a swift and organized response has been implemented. The NCDC has also enhanced surveillance, especially at border checkpoints and major entry points, to facilitate early detection and quick response to any potential outbreak.

Additionally, Dr. Idris highlighted the common symptoms of Ebola and released a public health advisory. He encouraged both healthcare professionals and the general public to strictly follow safety measures to reduce the risk of exposure.
