The Lagos State Police Command has successfully reinstated peace at Tejuosho Market Phase II in Surulere after a violent outbreak led by individuals thought to be hoodlums, who gathered purportedly to protest a power outage.

The mobile police units were able to fend off their attacks and safeguard the bank from being overrun by the disruptors.
On September 18, 2025, the police received an emergency call regarding the disturbance caused by these suspects, who were reportedly causing harm to people and damaging property in the market.
Reports indicate that the hoodlums targeted Mobile Police officers protecting a commercial bank within the market, but these officers effectively thwarted the attack and kept the bank secure, along with the Market Police Post.
Responding quickly, CP Olohundare Jimoh of the Lagos State Command sent additional police personnel and tactical units to the area.
The police managed to disperse the rioters and apprehended eighteen individuals caught in the act of creating chaos in the market.
Law and order were promptly restored by the police team, allowing vendors and customers to resume their activities peacefully.
The eighteen detainees are currently being held for investigation, with ongoing efforts to identify and arrest other participants in the unrest. They will face prosecution once the investigation concludes.
The Lagos State Police Command reassures the public and traders at Tejuosho Market, as well as other markets in Lagos, that stability has been achieved and the matter is under control. Citizens are encouraged to conduct their lawful business without fear.
The Command emphasizes to residents, business owners, and stakeholders that the situation is stable and reiterates that any violent assaults on police and property destruction will not be tolerated.
