The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has allocated a special fund of N24 million to 12 registered Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Lagos State, aimed at enhancing their operations and capacity to deliver community services for individuals with disabilities.
The funds were distributed to the recipient organizations on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at LASODA’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.

During the presentation, LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, explained that the intervention is intended to offer financial assistance directly to registered OPDs, enabling them to provide grassroots services, advocacy, and economic empowerment programs for persons with disabilities throughout the state.
She emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda, particularly its dedication to social inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities for persons with disabilities to engage meaningfully in state development.
“The lack of adequate funding hampers the effectiveness of OPDs, restricting their ability to serve their constituents. This initiative is therefore focused on enhancing your operations and ensuring equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Lagos State,” she stated.

The General Manager reaffirmed LASODA’s dedication to building partnerships with disability organizations and supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being, involvement, and socio-economic inclusion of persons with disabilities in Lagos State.
In response on behalf of the recipient organizations, Mr. Tolani Ojuri, Chairman of the Albinism Association of Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government and LASODA for the funding and their ongoing collaboration with the disability community.
