The Lagos State Government has mandated that all students seeking admission to both public and private schools in the state must register with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).
This policy will be implemented starting in the 2026/2027 academic year, and schools must collect and document the valid LASRRA registration number for each student beginning on Monday, September 14, 2026.

As stated by Adepeju Adeyemi, Deputy Director of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), the directive has been approved by Tolani Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.
The government indicated that this initiative is designed to establish a thorough and verifiable database of students throughout Lagos State.
Alli-Balogun noted that this approach would enhance planning, monitoring, and service delivery in the education sector by providing the government with trustworthy data on students.
