Lagos CP Jimoh responds to Island’s protest, charges suspect for Murder

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Samsideen Oladiti, known as “Shamelon,” in relation to a murder case and an assault on Lagos Island. He is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti-Yaba.

On September 17, 2025, the 55-year-old Oladiti was reportedly involved in an attack on a dispatch rider, resulting in the rider being hospitalized. The following day, September 18, 2025, another report was filed against Oladiti concerning an incident from August 28, 2025. During this incident, he allegedly assaulted a victim by striking him on the head and face with a metal ring, causing grave injuries. Despite receiving medical care, the victim was pronounced dead on September 17, 2025. His remains have been sent to the mortuary for an autopsy.

In response to the victim’s death, a group of protesters gathered at Sandgrouse Market, where they set ablaze two of the suspect’s motorcycles. CP Olohundare Jimoh arrived at the location with a police team to manage the situation promptly.

The Lagos police command urges residents to remain calm, cooperate with ongoing investigations, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
