Who Can Apply?

The scheme is open to candidates of all nationalities, with strong encouragement for applications from LGBTQ+ and disabled candidates.

It primarily targets postgraduate economists and statisticians with a keen interest in development issues.

Key requirements include:

– A sound grasp of economic and statistical theory and the ability to apply it to real-world problems.

– Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.

– Excellent communication abilities — explaining complex ideas clearly to non-specialists in both writing and speech.

– Personal qualities such as resilience, cultural sensitivity, adaptability, humility, and the ability to thrive in resource-constrained environments.

– Demonstrable interest in public policy, relevant experience (work or voluntary), language skills (English is essential), and solid IT proficiency.

Prior experience in development or government settings is an advantage but not mandatory.

The deadline to apply is March 31, 2026. Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.

Since its launch in 1963, the ODI Fellowship Scheme has placed over 1,300 fellows worldwide. Governments continue to demand the programme, reflecting the high level of responsibility and impact entrusted to participants.
