The Ogun State Government refuted on Wednesday the absurd allegations that Governor Dapo Abiodun is imposing excessively stringent technical standards for the Paddy Arikawe Oye-Igbimo Road in Sagamu, a project initiated by Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East.
In a statement released by Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media & Strategy, the government clarified that the standards imposed on contractor Minim and Tonye Nigeria Limited are consistent with those used for all state road projects and aimed at ensuring public safety.

It also stated that any efforts by Senator Daniel’s associates to lower these standards represent a clear threat to public safety and will not be entertained.
Furthermore, the statement criticized a report from Daniel’s media team, titled “Dapo Abiodun Takes on Tinubu Over Standard of Road Constructed in Ogun,” describing it as an unfounded and desperate fabrication meant to mislead the public.
The government challenged the authors to provide proof that President Bola Tinubu is involved in any 260-metre road project in Ogun State, expressing disbelief that Daniel’s team thinks Nigerians cannot differentiate between road projects approved by the Federal Executive Council and those initiated by individual lawmakers.
Additionally, it noted that deficiencies in the drainage and concrete pavement design were only discovered after the contractor submitted the project drawings, indicating they did not meet Federal Ministry of Works standards.
“It is pertinent to state that whenever Ogun State Government wants to work on any FG road, it is statutory and mandatory that we must get necessary clearance from the Federal Ministry of Works and this had been the practice since the beginning of the previous administration”, the statement added.
