In response to the increasing insecurity nationwide, Ogun State has implemented new security protocols, as announced by Governor Dapo Abiodun after a security meeting in Iperu. The administration will start documenting foreign workers associated with multinational companies, and newcomers will need to be screened by local leaders to confirm their intentions and means of support.
Governor Abiodun stated that around 70 undocumented foreigners from Niger, Chad, and Sudan were recently detained for not being able to justify their presence in Ogun. These individuals will be processed by the Nigeria Immigration Service, and he urged communities of non-indigenes to enhance their vigilance.

Additionally, he expressed concern about scavengers and scrap dealers, labeling them as potential security risks. He instructed law enforcement to carefully oversee their activities and eliminate criminal hideouts, such as the “Zanga” in Ijebu-Ode, warning that properties linked to criminal behavior will be confiscated by the government.
He also addressed issues related to illegal mining and unauthorized activities in forest reserves, criticizing some miners for acting unlawfully. The governor reassured that the state is collaborating with security forces to safeguard forests and mining areas, particularly in locations like Ajebo in Obafemi-Owode.
Abiodun urged the community to aid in policing efforts by reporting suspicious activities and cautioned traditional leaders against allocating land to outsiders, stating that those who fail to comply will face consequences. He commended security agencies for their collaboration and recognized President Bola Tinubu for his ongoing efforts in national security and recent successful rescue missions in Niger and Kwara states.
