More than 500 residents of Igbogun and neighbouring communities in Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) received free healthcare services as the RBK Free Medical Outreach brought consultations, screenings, laboratory tests and medications to the Igbogun Primary Health Centre (PHC).
The outreach eliminated the cost barrier for residents seeking medical attention, with beneficiaries accessing consultations, diagnostic tests and medications without paying any fees.

The medical outreach offered a broad range of integrated healthcare services designed to address both preventive and immediate health needs.
Residents benefited from: blood pressure checks, blood sugar screening, eye and glaucoma screening, laboratory tests, dental care, tuberculosis (TB) screening, medical consultations, family planning services, health education and free medications.
The programme was coordinated by the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Mbalaso Chidinma, alongside health workers and members of the council’s management and executive teams.

The outreach attracted residents from Igbogun and nearby communities, many of whom took advantage of multiple services during the exercise.
Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), was represented at the event by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oluremi Alogba.
Addressing residents, Alogba encouraged community members to continue making use of healthcare services available at the primary health centre.
She also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare across communities within the council area.
According to her, bringing essential medical services closer to residents remains a priority of the local government.

The outreach reflects the growing emphasis on strengthening primary healthcare services within local communities.
Organisers said initiatives such as the RBK Free Medical Outreach are intended to ensure that residents, particularly those who may struggle to afford routine medical care, can access preventive and essential health services within their communities.
The Lekki LCDA administration also linked the programme to broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
According to organisers, the outreach aligns with increased attention being given to primary healthcare following recent reforms by the Federal Government.
The outreach received commendation from officials of Lagos State Health District III, including the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke.

She praised the Lekki LCDA Chairman for supporting healthcare initiatives within the council area and acknowledged the impact of bringing medical services directly to communities.
Dr. Adeleke also pledged to support the Igbogun Primary Health Centre by providing additional personnel, within the district’s capacity, to strengthen healthcare delivery in the community.
Officials from the Health District III management team also attended the outreach alongside other healthcare personnel.

For many residents, the outreach provided an opportunity to undergo medical checks that they might otherwise have postponed due to cost.
Preventive screenings such as blood pressure, blood sugar and eye examinations were among the most utilised services, while consultations and free medications offered immediate support for those requiring treatment.

The programme also highlighted the important role of primary healthcare centres in delivering essential services at the community level.
With Igbogun joining the growing list of communities benefiting from similar interventions, the council says it intends to continue expanding healthcare outreach efforts across Lekki LCDA.
As community-based medical programmes continue to reach more residents, health officials hope greater access to preventive care and early diagnosis will contribute to improved health outcomes across the local government area.
