Peter Obi celebrates Super Eagles’ win, rallies support ahead of South Africa showdown

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Eagles on their crucial victory against Rwanda in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match played on Saturday.

Obi, in a congratulatory message, lauded the players for their determination and team spirit, describing the win as a strong step toward securing a ticket to the global football showpiece.

“Watching the game, I noted your team’s commitment that should be sustained going forward. As you prepare to face South Africa on Tuesday in another very vital World Cup qualifier, Nigerians look forward to your continuous momentum,” Obi said.

He further stressed the significance of Nigeria’s qualification, stating that the country’s place in the FIFA World Cup should be treated with utmost importance.

“Nigeria playing in the World Cup final as one of Africa’s representatives should be sacred and Tuesday’s encounter will define it. We are confident that with this strength, Nigeria can make it to the World Cup,” Obi added.

The Super Eagles’ triumph over Rwanda has rekindled optimism among fans, with the forthcoming clash against South Africa expected to be a decisive test of the team’s strength and consistency.

Obi concluded his message by wishing the squad success in their campaign, adding, “Congratulations and good luck.”
