Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, authorizing a landmark N4.4 trillion budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The signing ceremony took place on Monday at the Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja, attended by key state officials.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had previously passed the bill in January, paving the way for the governor’s final approval.
Dubbed the “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” the financial plan allocates a total of N4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 fiscal period.

Among those present at the event were Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, Head of Service Mr. Bode Agoro, and state lawmakers.
When he first presented the budget proposal to the legislature in November 2025, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the plan was crafted to foster inclusive growth and ensure development benefits reach every part of the state.

“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” the governor stated.
Sanwo-Olu further detailed that the 2026 budget is built on four main pillars: prioritizing citizens in governance, expanding modern infrastructure, fostering sustainable economic growth, and reinforcing public institutions.
He noted that these priorities are in complete alignment with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda, which continues to guide policy and public investment in Lagos.
