The Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has appealed to residents to desist from dumping refuse on major roads and highways within the council area.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Olowa expressed concern over the growing habit of indiscriminate waste disposal on highways, stressing that roads are not designated refuse collection points.

“Dear residents of Ibeju-Lekki, I am using this medium to appeal to all to stop dumping refuse on our highway. The road is not a refuse collection point,” the chairman said.

He emphasised that such practices not only damage the aesthetic of the community but also pose health and environmental hazards.

Olowa assured residents that the local government is working to improve waste management systems and provide sustainable solutions for refuse collection and disposal. He urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation officials and use only approved dump sites and waste bins.
