Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has rewarded the victorious D’Tigress team with $100,000, a new apartment, and the national honour of OON as a token of appreciation for their success. The coaches on the team will also receive $50,000 in recognition of their accomplishments.

The Lagos Voice reports that the D’Tigress won a fifth consecutive Women’s AfroBasket title following a 78-64 victory over Mali, making it the seventh time Nigeria would lift the trophy.
D’Tigress also extended their unbeaten streak at the women’s AfroBasket tournament to 29 games. The victorious team also qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Germany.
Three countries Mali, South Africa and Senegal will compete in the playoffs in March 2024 to fight for a place at the World Cup.

D’Tigress dominated the first quarter, edging out the Malians 26-21. Both teams fought hard in the second quarter, which ended 41-41.
D’Tigress, however, showed their supremacy in the third quarter, prevailing 61-56. In the end, Nigeria claimed the title with a 78-64 victory.
