The UK commission in Nigeria has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s various economic and trade initiatives, describing them as bold and encouraging.
In an official statement from Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Nigeria’s First Lady, Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, made these remarks during a courtesy call to Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

🔗 Join Our ChannelMontgomery observed that the UK government is optimistic about Nigeria’s economy, noting the new opportunities arising from the challenging yet vital reforms implemented by President Tinubu.
He expressed admiration for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which focuses on empowering women in key areas such as education, health, and humanitarian efforts.
The British High Commissioner highlighted that these reforms have strengthened trade relations between the two countries. He also mentioned the UK government’s attention to the ongoing Constitutional Amendment related to increasing women’s representation in the National Assembly.
In response, Senator Oluremi Tinubu assured her guests that the government and RHI, aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, would continue to tackle the challenges faced by Nigerians.
“We can support each other if we genuinely care,” she stated.
She emphasized RHI’s commitment to empowering women in the informal sector, who are directly impacted by their initiatives. Acknowledging the declining number of women in the National Assembly, she promised to collaborate on efforts to address this issue.
“We need to ensure we choose representatives who will effectively serve us, and we must educate our women about this,” she added.
