An eyewitness who shared footage of the incident on social media described the chaotic moment.
“Heavy traffic in Ikorodu/Mile 12 road as BRT bus went up in flames,” the witness wrote.
“Every single seat was completely burnt. Watching people fight for their lives right before my eyes felt unreal. The government must do better. Proper maintenance of these blue BRT buses is not optional.”

Videos circulating online show the vehicle completely engulfed, with flames consuming the interior before emergency responders arrived.

There were no confirmed casualties as of press time, with passengers and the driver reportedly escaping before the blaze intensified. However, the fire caused significant disruption, with traffic stretching from Ikorodu through Ketu and the surrounding areas.
