In a post on social-media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sani wrote:

The former Kaduna Central lawmaker added that affected individuals should “return home, safe and with dignity,” rather than wait for enforcement action.
Background: What’s Happening with the U.S. Visas?
The remarks come amid a wave of visa revocations by the U.S. Department of State affecting Nigerians and other nationals. One high-profile case involved Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, who confirmed his non-immigrant U.S. visa had been cancelled and that he would not attempt re-application.

Reports suggest that thousands of Nigerians holding U.S. visas may now face single-entry limitations, shorter validity periods, or outright cancellation, prompting concerns over the status of diaspora communities and travellers.
Sani’s message directly addressed these issues, suggesting that individuals with revoked visas may be vulnerable to actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if they remain in the country.
