Why I am scared of Marriage — Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy, the 42-year-old head of Mavin Records, recently shared his apprehensions about marriage despite his achievements and fame. During an appearance on HabbyFX’s YouTube show, he explained that his fears are rooted in previous relationship failures, controversies on social media, and the financial implications of divorce.

Having been married briefly in 2003, he expressed that while love can be beautiful, it also has its risks. He recounted how his parents were deeply in love, which instilled in him a belief in love, but the visibility of messy breakups online contributes to his fears. He also mentioned that financial concerns make men wary, as they risk losing a significant portion of their assets without a prenuptial agreement, which he finds intimidating, especially considering his desire to secure a legacy for future generations.

Although he has experienced dating, he is currently single. He attributed his situation to fear and the notion that God’s timing is crucial, stating he seeks the right partner but questions his suitability as a partner. Reflecting on his personal growth, he remarked on the importance of discipline in committing to one person and noted that while he used to be quite the handful, he feels wiser now.

Describing himself as someone who primarily stays at home, in the office, or the studio, Don Jazzy mentioned that his team manages much of the work unless they seek his input. He acknowledged influential artists like Johnny Drille, Wizkid, and Davido for their contributions to Nigerian music and shared that his creativity is often inspired by everyday sounds. On the subject of faith, he expressed belief in God but noted his growing skepticism towards churches given current events.
