In his greeting, Hunpe passionately urged the state government to proceed with the construction of the Central Palace for Badagry, a project he noted was of great importance to the late Akran. He also requested the completion of the road connecting Badagry Market to Ajido.
Hunpe emphasized that the late monarch viewed the Central Palace as a vital center for gathering, a respected location for traditional chiefs and elders to work together to foster peace, harmony, and development throughout Badagry Kingdom. He pointed out that a suitable palace would empower the traditional institution and enhance peace in the region.

He further stated that completing this project would honor the legacy of the late Akran and serve as a tribute to his lifelong dedication to the unity and progress of Badagry, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed that the Central Palace project’s delay during the late monarch’s lifetime was due to land disputes related to the proposed construction site. However, he confirmed that this issue has now been resolved.
The governor mentioned that the land has been officially allocated for the project and that the state government has approved the budget, with construction set to begin soon.
He expressed gratitude to the council chairman for the reminder and reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster unity, preserve cultural heritage, and stimulate development in Badagry.
Additionally, Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the residents of Badagry that work on the second phase of the road from Badagry Market to Ajido would continue, highlighting its importance for enhancing transportation, trade, and economic activity in the region.
The visit, marked by prayers and reflections, underscored the lasting legacy of the late Akran of Badagry and reignited hopes for the realization of significant development projects cherished by the historic kingdom.
