In an interview with DW, Amina explained that she initially mistook the disturbance outside for cows entering their farm. After waking her husband, armed men burst through the door. She described the attackers as young men in military-style uniforms who she believed were Fulani based on their accents. The gunmen threatened to kill her husband if he resisted, and he begged to pray before they executed him, which they permitted. After he prayed, they shot him dead.
When she tried to approach his body, they warned her they would kill her as well. She recounted how the men attempted to take her with them, but she refused, stating she would not follow them after they had just killed her husband. The attackers then instructed her children to go inside and lie down. When the bandits finally departed, she attempted to escape with her children but discovered that the area, including the school hostels, was surrounded by armed men.
Security forces have since initiated search-and-rescue operations for the kidnapped schoolgirls.
