Young Talents Shine at Lekki LCDA 2025 Spelling Bee

 

The Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat was filled with excitement on Tuesday as pupils and students displayed brilliance and composure at the 2025 edition of the Spelling Bee Competition.

The event was organised and sponsored by the Executive Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE).

Fourteen schools across the council participated in the competition, which tested the contestants’ knowledge, confidence, and ability to remain calm under pressure.

In the Primary School category, Okeowo Abdulrazak of St. David Anglican Primary School, Oshoroko emerged champion. He was closely followed by Bagnan Patrick and Sanusi Mubarak, both from St. Vincent RCM Primary School, who finished second and third, respectively.

At the Secondary School level, Edema Ifeoluwa of Community Senior High School, Lekki took first place, while Balogun Rebecca of Community Senior High School, Idata/Ilagbo claimed second. Saibu Modinat of Community Junior High School, Idotun secured the third position.

Words That Inspire

The atmosphere was charged with pride as winners stepped forward to collect their prizes.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ojikutu Razak noted:
“Today’s competition is not just about spelling words; it is about building the confidence of our children and preparing them for future leadership. Engr. Kasali remains committed to investing in education and in the dreams of our young people.”

Similarly, Dr Bukola Lawal, who represented the Council Chairperson, praised the participants for their determination.

“The courage these children showed on stage proves that our schools are raising intelligent, resilient leaders. We are proud of every participant, not just the winners.”

The contest was anchored by Mr. Awoniran J.A. (Quiz Master) and supported by Miss Fakolade C.T. (Timekeeper). Other dignitaries present included the HOD of Education, HRO, and MoH of Lekki LCDA.

The competition ended on a high note with cheers and applause from parents, teachers, and community leaders. The event reinforced the council’s belief in education as a tool for transformation.
