In a video that has since circulated on the social media platform X, Ojo claimed he discovered the uniform on Maryland Road in Lagos. The uniform reportedly bore the name tag of an inspector named Jimoh Weheed.
However, residents grew suspicious, noting that the suspect’s conduct and appearance were inconsistent with that of a genuine police officer. This led members of the public to confront him, at which point they reportedly discovered he was an imposter.

The command praised the community for their vigilance and civic responsibility in identifying the suspect. At the same time, authorities issued a strong warning against mob justice, cautioning residents not to take the law into their own hands, regardless of the alleged crime.
Officials emphasized that extrajudicial punishment is not supported by Lagos State law and urged the public to always hand over suspects to law enforcement for proper investigation and prosecution. The police also encouraged residents to remain security-conscious and continue to support security agencies by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities while allowing due process to take its course.
