The first phase, lasting three weeks from February 11 to March 4, will focus on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway. Work will proceed from U-Turn Bus Stop towards the Sango Tollgate.

“During this period, traffic from Lagos/Abule-Egba toward Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate will be diverted to one side of the carriageway, approximately 20 metres away from the construction zone, before rejoining the main road after the work area,” the commissioner explained.

Osiyemi noted that the repairs would be conducted one lane at a time. Once a section is completed, traffic will be redirected onto the rehabilitated portion to allow work to continue on the adjacent lane. He assured motorists that traffic on the Lagos-bound side would remain unaffected during this initial phase.

The second phase will begin on March 4 and run until March 11, focusing on the Lagos-bound carriageway from Obadeyi Bus Stop to Ekoro Junction.

During this week, traffic heading from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate towards Lagos/Abule-Egba will be diverted around the construction zone. “As with the first phase, work will be carried out in sections, and traffic will be redirected to completed portions as the project progresses. Motorists heading toward Abeokuta will continue to enjoy free movement,” Osiyemi said.

The commissioner assured the public that comprehensive traffic management plans are in place for the duration of the project. He advised motorists to plan their journeys, obey all traffic signs, and cooperate with officials stationed along the corridor.

“We appeal to the motoring public for patience and understanding while these critical repairs are carried out for the safety and benefit of all road users,” Osiyemi concluded.
